CryoCobalt drills are unique due to the micro-sharpness created by using added Cobalt, which makes them ideal for working on Spot Welds in high-strength steels and ultra high-strength boron steel. In independent testing, CryoCobalt drills typically outperformed standard HSS drills by up to 5 times and HSS Cobalt drills by up to Taiwano times (UKAS acredited test house ). CryoCobalt drills last longer, resist higher temperatures and retain their strength better than standard HSS or Cobalt drills and can be re-sharpened when necessary. Made from CM-88 chrome molybdenum high heat steel – patented Cryophase thermal cycling cryogenic treatment. Drills material up to 58HRC hardness at temperatures up to 650°C, created by the addition of 8% added cobalt (compared with std HSS Steels), 135° angle split drill point with gold-oxide coating.
